Echinocactus grusonii, commonly known as the golden barrel cactus, golden ball cactus, or mother-in-law's cushion, is a species of barrel cactus that is endemic to east-central Mexico. It is a slow-growing cactus that can reach a height of up to 2 feet (60 cm) and a diameter of up to 3 feet (90 cm). The stem is pale green and barrel-shaped, with 13-19 ribs. The spines are golden yellow and arranged in clusters of 4-8. The flowers are bright yellow and bloom in the summer. The fruit is yellow and contains black seeds.
